Third Thursday, August 15th, from 6:00-8:00 pm
Learn about year-round gardening at a free class by Sustainable Overlook. I’m co-teaching with Alice Busch and the class will be held in both our gardens with lots of real life examples of how to plan and plant through late summer and fall to ensure you have lots of tasty veggies during the cold months.
Portland has the perfect climate for year-round gardening but success requires a bit of planning ahead. Learn tips for selecting seeds and starts, getting your timing right and strategies for helping your plants thrive using permaculture principles and organic methods.
Mid-August is too late to start some winter crops from seed, but there is plenty of time to plant starts and get quick crops like greens in the ground. Plus, fall is the best time for adding perennial vegetables, berry bushes and fruit trees to your garden.
All levels of gardener welcome. Class is free of charge, no rspv required. Meet at Mulysa’s garden. Check Sustainable Overlook on facebook for more info and events.
