Vaccinium ‘Ivanhoe’

Blueberry
ERICACEAE, The Heath family

We went bluberry picking at Klock farm near Corbett today. Michael’s favorite blueberry is ‘Ivanhoe’. The bushes were large with long, dark green leaves. I thought the skins were a bit thick, but they are sweet and have good old fashioned blueberry flavor. My favorite is still ‘Bluecrop’. We also picked ‘Eberhard’, an angular, all purpose berry, and ‘Jersey’, the one with the highest sugar content. Though we only picked from a few bushes (I like these nice organized U-Picks with flag systems), each one was loaded with fruit, even this late in the season. We took home 28.5 lbs. of berries..
