Geum ‘Mango Lassi’

Bright orange and cheerful, Geum ‘Mango Lassi’ gets extra points for a luscious name. It’s a far cry from my favorite flower, Geum triflorum, with it’s nodding pink bud that never really seems to open before turning its head up and showing off a plume of silky seed tails. This Geum is less mysterious, a garden variety. Very charming none the less. It would do well with the purple Escholtzia, pink Penstemon, maybe Epilobium cannum, California fuchsia. I’m not a fan of just dotting a few bits of orange around. Or bright white for that matter either. If you’re going to do it, do it. White is for shade, in my opinion. Usually. Except for Iceberg roses. And some other things. Maybe I’m just tired of Iberis.
