Kerria japonica ‘Albiflora’

A very elegant plant, single white blooms in early spring clearly pronounce its Rosaceous heritage. The leaves are a bright, light green with serrated edges and distinctive pleats. It is a deciduous shrub with a mounded form, growing 3 to 5 feet tall and around 4 feet wide. Happiest in partial shade, it can tolerate dry shade and even blooms there. The branches are many and slender, retaining their lime hue through the winter. According to Digging Dog Nursery, they are much sought after in winter for Asian-style flower arrangements for these qualities. Grow Japanese Kerria in lean, well-drained soil and prune back hard every several years for best results.
