Eriobotrya japonica

Loquat
This tree grows 15 to 30 feet tall and is supposedly hardy here. The pink flowers smell funny- a group of people at the nursery discussed this:

“It smells like root beer.”
“No, like medicinal bubble gum, like a dentist’s office.”
“It’s nice.”
“No, bad!”
“Yeah!”
“You don’t have to agree!”

Anyway, it has thick, evergreen leaves and small orange fruits that have been compared to a mild flavored nectarine.
