Birthday walk, from just before sunset to dark, in Forest Park on Wildwood trail and Cherry trail and the firelane. Spring came here today, too. Trilliums, Claytonia, yellow violets in bloom. Vancouveria leafs coming up to Robins’ evensongs.

In this forest, a tall, vase shaped shrub. Clusters of bright green leaves sweep up from pendulous white blossoms. Also called Oso berry. Also called Osmaronia. In the Rose family. Pollinated by flies. Possibly by Anna’s hummingbird. Prized berries, say fox and mouse and bird and bear.
